The Aston Villa winger, Gabriel Agbonlahor, has hailed his team mate Christian Benteke for his superb performance in this season and has said that he is good enough to sign for top clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United.
Benteke had signed for Villa during the pre season transfer window. Villa had bought him from Genk after paying a transfer fee of 7 million Pounds.
This has been a great season for Benteke so far. He has featured for Villa in 24 matches so far in this season and has found the net 11 times.
There have been speculations recently that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Benteke and the 22 years old striker might join one of these two clubs at the end of this season. But, Agbonlahor thinks that instead of joining Arsenal or Tottenham, Benteke should wait for the offer from a big club.
When asked about Benteke being linked to Tottenham and Arsenal, Agbonlahor said, “He is a sensational young player and the way he has performed in this season, it’s obvious that he will get offers. But, I think he should wait for the offers from big clubs. He is good enough to play for those clubs.”
“He has really been a revelation for us in this season. When he had signed for us last summer, not many people knew what kind of a player he is. But, now, he is very popular among Villa fans.”
When asked about Villa’s dismal performance in the ongoing season, Agbonlahor said, “The kind of players we have had in our squad, we should have performed far better than this. Most of the players in the squad are experienced, but, I don’t know why we haven’t managed to put up match winning performances. Whatever be the reason, we need to keep trying. Hopefully, the results will start going in our favour in the upcoming games.”
