CHELSEA LINKED TO ROONEY

Chelsea were linked with a move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney when the player submitted his first transfer request a few years ago. However, Rooney immediately signed a new five-year contract with United to kill all speculation.

This time around, it is extremely different because Rooney is widely expected to leave Old Trafford. Chelsea, PSG, Barcelona, and Arsenal are all interested in securing the signing of the 27-year-old, who will cost around £ 30 million. Chelsea manager José Mourinho is thought to be a keen admirer of Rooney.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that he not dismiss the chances of Rooney joining Chelsea. He has said that players move between the clubs during their career and it is quite normal. Hence, he is not surprised that Rooney is linked with other clubs including Chelsea. He says that he would see Rooney in the blue of Chelsea because the 27-year-old will be capable of improving any team. Chelsea have not only been linked with Rooney, but other strikers like Edinson Cavani have also been linked as well.

Cech has said that he would certainly trust manager José Mourinho to improve the squad even more by bringing in his own players. Only a handful of players remain from the first spell of the Portuguese.

"I could see him in a Chelsea shirt. Players can change shirts and obviously he had a fantastic career with Manchester United and sometimes players need new challenges. Sometimes the consequences are the way that you are looking for the new challenge and change of the shirt.

So if that happened, obviously he is a fantastic player and he will be welcome to our squad but now we are only in the moment of speculations," said Cech. The 31-year-old was one of the first signings brought in by Mourinho in his first spell.
