OBERTAN WANTS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Former Manchester United star Gabriel Obertan has said that he wants to play in the Champions League once again.

Newcastle United have the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League this season, which would have been unthinkable only a few years ago when they were relegated to the Championship.

Gabriel Obertan decided to move to Newcastle United in the hope of getting regular first-team football. Even though he has not been able to get into the team due to the immense quality of the players, the Frenchman says that he is hoping for Champions League football for Newcastle next season.

Newcastle United are currently in the fifth position. They are competing against the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea for the top four finish, which will guarantee them Champions League football next season. Even though Gabriel Obertan acknowledges that it is going to be tough for Newcastle, he wants to play every bit in helping Newcastle qualify for the competition.

One of the biggest advantages of playing in the Champions League is the increased revenue, which will be to the tune of £ 30 million for every team that makes to the group stages. Obertan already has the experience of playing in the European competitions with Manchester United.

“There are three important games – Chelsea, Man City and Everton. Hopefully, I’ll be involved. It would be nice to get the Champions League, and we have to work for that. It would be great. Two years ago it was the Championship, and we have the chance to play in the Champions League. I’ve played in the Champions League, and it’s a great feeling. It’s a massive bonus to a season. Hopefully, we can get there, and play some great games next season,” Obertan told the Gazette ahead of the match with Chelsea on Wednesday night.
