When Petr Cech decided to bring his decade-long service at Chelsea to an end, Arsenal were one of his key destinations.
Moving to the gunners allowed Cech to remain in London, where he has been based for more than a decade. Since the Czech Republic goalkeeper did not want to relocate, he decided upon a £ 10 million move to Arsenal in the summer of 2015. Even prior to the move, Cech was aware about the difficulties faced by Arsenal in order to remain competitive in the Premier League. Petr Cech says that he certainly does not enjoy going to the Stadium of Light since it is one of the difficult places to visit for an opposition player.
The Arsenal goalkeeper conceded a penalty at this ground earlier in the campaign. Even though it was not damaging to Arsenal, who managed a 4-1 win, it was a disappointing record for the goalkeeper not to preserve the clean sheet. Arsenal have one of the strongest defensive records in the division after having conceded only 15 goals in as many matches. Much of this defensive record was down to Cech, who arrived at Arsenal in a £10 million deal a few years ago.

Petr Cech, after making an assessment of his side’s draw with Tottenham in the North London derby last weekend, is of the opinion that Arsenal still has a chance in clinching the league title.
Arsenal ended up in a draw at home in the derby against Tottenham, thus pushing them down to the fourth position on the Premier League table. The first third of the season is nearly coming to an end but the title race would likely be a hotly contested one as five teams sit at the top of the table within five points.
