Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has said that he is committed to the west London side for the long-term. The Italian has been regularly linked with a reunion with former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri at Juventus but the midfielder has stressed that he is clearly content with the Europa League holders, he said:“He was my manager, he wasn’t my friend.
“We worked together for four years but now it is another time and another page. Another time in my life. I look forward to that now. I left him but I stayed here and I look to work for our team now, at Chelsea. I have a four-year contract. I am very happy in London and to be at Chelsea. I hope to be here for a long time.”
Jorginho did not have the best of debut seasons with the Blues last term and a section of the club’s supporters happened to criticise him. Nonetheless, he ended the season on a high note by helping the Blues win the Europa League and he now appears content to succeed with the Capital outfit on a long-term basis rather than ponder over a return to the Serie A.
The Blues are currently working under the guidance of Frank Lampard after the departure of Sarri, who made the switch to Juventus after just one season with the club. So far, the performances have been a mixed bag in pre-season with a 50 percent win rate, but there are still positives from the fact that Lampard has preferred to work with some of the young graduates.
The likes of Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham have particularly impressed during the first phase of pre-season and the duo could get some gametime next term, considering the Blues are under a transfer ban for the next 12 months.
