Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that club legend Petr Cech was the one that briefed players and the coaching staff officially about the situation involving the club's Russian owner, Roman Abramovich and his decision to sell the Premier League team amidst the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. Tuchel talked about Petr Cech and the briefing in his pre-match presser on Friday ahead of the Burnley game at Turf Moor as he said that the briefing from the former Chelsea goalkeeper wasn't too much different from what they already know.
Chelsea owner Abramovich has been affected by the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine as he has been forced to sell the club mainly due to his affiliation with the Vladimir Putin-led presidential regime in his native Russia. Putin sanctioned the Russian invasion of Ukraine which has led to the loss of several lives.
Abramovich has placed a £3bn valuation on Chelsea, but potential buyers are not willing to pay the asking price. Also, the Blues owner is keen to sell to a buyer that will give him assurances over the long-term future of the club especially when it comes to spending money on transfers.
