Former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji sung believes that games against Liverpool are always special irrespective of the form and position in the table.
The two teams up against each other once again. The game will be at Old Trafford and it is expected to be a great spectacle. Games against Manchester United and Liverpool have always been intense and the South Korean midfielder expects more of the same. Former manager Sir Alex Ferguson often resorted to using Park Ji sung as the destroyer in such matches. Manager Louis van Gaal will be without such options.
However, Van Gaal has the ability to unleash his new signing Anthony Martial, who has moved to the club in a £ 36 million deal. Ji sung has a lot of experience about playing against Liverpool, as he did so against six times during his long spell with United. Since the game is coming just after the international break, much will be expected from the two teams. Liverpool are especially under a lot of pressure due to poor results at the start of the season. Manager Brendan Rodgers has seen his team win only twice so far. United, on the other hand, come into the game with far greater levels of confidence.
"Everyone is focused on this game and the players will know how important it is. After the international break it’s always a difficult game and it’ll be even more so against Liverpool. But playing them makes you more focused and that will help us – it’s easier than against other teams. Focus gives you energy. There’s pressure on both teams but if we win, we’ll gain confidence and quickly forget about the Swansea defeat. It’s important we win and continue to perform," said the South Korean midfielder, who recently retired from football due to injuries.
