Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech took it upon himself to criticise his fellow teammates following their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
While Arsene Wenger would quite rightfully have the right to question his squad, it appears that the former Chelsea man was the one who ripped into his Gunners' teammates. As a result, the critics are likely to voice further opinion on the manager, who is reluctant to be hard to his under-performing players.
Cech had lifted four Premier League titles during his 11 years at Chelsea, and he was shocked at how easily the Gunners' gave up against Jurgen Klopp's side. The 35-year-old termed the performance 'unacceptable' in an interview following the game, and he later lashed out at his outfield players.
The defeat is likely to heap more pressure on manager Arsene Wenger, who made the surprise decision to play Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain despite the attacker wanting his way out of the club. The Gunners have since accepted a bid from Chelsea, and the England international is due to secure his move in the next 24 hours.
Aaron Ramsey was another who failed to show up in the first half, and he admits that something has to change following the international break for the club to get back to winning ways, he said: “We're very disappointed with the way we performed, but we have to accept it. We're sorry to the fans that came up - it's not good enough and we have to do something about it. We're going to have to change something if we're to compete this year. Liverpool showed what it's going to have to take to compete for the Premier League and we're going to have to do something about it if we're going to do that."
