SEVENPLAYERS FEATURE IN OTHER SPORTS

Some football stars featured in other teams after making the decision to end their respective football careers and Chelsea legend Petr Cech was one of those football stars. According to the Daily Star, Petr Cech and six other football stars tried their hands in other Sports when they ended their football careers. Petr Cech turned to Ice Hockey after his retirement from football at Arsenal. The Czech Republic football icon had already been offered the role of technical and performance director at Stamford Bridge before he decided to join National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) Division 2 team Guildford Phoenix as a goaltender. Petr Cech told The Athletic that he missed match days and that played a part in his decision to join the Ice Hockey team. He made this known in an interview with the media platform shortly after he made a crucial save in the shootout to help his team beat Swindon Wildcats 2.

Petr Cech played for both Chelsea and Arsenal with distinction before hanging up his gloves in the summer of 2019. He is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the history of the Premier League in England. He was still able to make his mark in the Ice Hockey world. Cech was registered as part of the Chelsea squad for this season in the Premier League as a backup to the other goalkeepers like Edouard Mendy and KepaArrizabalaga. He went on to feature once for the Chelsea u-23 team in a Premier League II game with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Apart from Cech, other football stars like Polish shot stopper Jerzy Dudek, English striker Grant Holt, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, Italian football icon Paolo Maldini, David James and England goalkeeper Joe Hart, who's still on the payroll of Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur. Dudek tried his hands with motor racing, while Holt went into the dangerous world of wrestling after his football career. For ex-Manchester United and England centre back Rio Ferdinand, it was boxing. Paolo Maldini tried his hands with tennis, while it was NFL and American football for David James. For Joe Hart, it was cricket that took some of his attention.
